Sounds of the Spectrum
Friday 14th May 2010 saw our variety show spectacular in aid of raising funds
and awareness for Autism resources in local schools and Aspect, and what a
night it was, we managed to raise $25,000!
The night was organised by Maxine Baird, along with a very dedicated committee,
her goal was to raise $20,000 in funding for the local schools “I was humbled and
very gracious for everyone attending and digging deep into their pockets to support us, to raise over $25,000 was just unbelievable” Maxine said.
400 people attended at the Cessnock Performing Arts Centre, the show was hosted by NBN newsreader Natasha Beyersdorf, and the crowd were treated to performances by Australian Idols Thanh Bui, James Johnston and Amanda Streete, world famous magician Tim Ellis and model and supermum Chloe Maxwell, and comedian Fiona O’Loughlin.
“The feedback has been unbelievable, the email and calls I have received about the show and the performers has been overwhelming” Maxine said, “I wanted the night to be a blend of entertainment and education, whilst raising much needed funds, I had a message to get out there and I think from the response we’ve had, we definitely achieved it!”
The money was raised through the generous donations from various businesses and it was achieved through ticket sales, silent and live auctions and raffle tickets sold on the night.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who helped make the night a great success and particularly to all who attended, thankyou for choosing our charity to support.
